UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The release of the 2023/24 allocation (£477,610) is dependent on the submission of a Statement of Grant Usage for 2022-23 along with a credible plan for this year’s spend (which will also include details of any 2022/23 understand which we intend to reprofile in 2023/24). This will be submitted to the government before their deadline of 2 May 2023.

Notwithstanding our allocation is indicative at this stage Members intentions for our allocations has been confirmed as follows:

Castle Street Improvements

The improvements works to Castle Street will commence on 15 April 2024 and run until 31 July 2024.  A public drop- in session was held at the Council Chamber On Thursday 28 March during which time the plans and materials were available to view with officers from both RVBC and LCC in attendance.

These plans have been subject to Road Safety Audit Report and include minor changes when compared to the plans displayed at the drop-in session.

Improvements to Clitheroe Market

A tender exercise was undertaken to seek a contractor to undertake improvements to the bull ring area. Whilst two tenders were received both quotations were substantially over the allocated budget. On 9th April 2024 Members of Policy and Finance Committee are considering a revised scheme for this area which will cause minimal disruption to the operation of the market.  Suggested improvements include:

• Improvements to the surfacing including new paving stones to replace tarmac.
• LED Lighting to stalls
• Replace / repair lighting to open stalls.
• Replace existing roof panels, gutters, and back panels.
• Replace the existing tabletops with solid grade laminate panels.
• Paint existing lighting.
• Chemical steam cleaning of Market toilet / office building
