Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2020
We are reviewing the polling districts and polling places in Ribble Valley.
The review seeks to ensure that all electors have reasonable facilities for voting in elections and that so far as is reasonable and practicable every polling place is accessible to electors who are disabled.
Ribble Valley Borough Council last conducted a review of polling districts and polling places in 2014.
The 2020 review covers:
- polling districts - geographical areas created by the sub-division of a UK Parliamentary constituency for the purposes of a UK Parliamentary election. In England, each parish is to be a separate polling district; and
- polling places - the buildings or areas in which polling stations will be selected by the (Acting) Returning Officer.
The review does not cover ward or constituency boundaries/names, which are the responsibility of the Local Government Boundary Commission (wards) and the Parliamentary Boundary Commission (constituencies).
Notice of Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2020
As part of the review a period of public consultation took place between 20 January 2020 and 1 March 2020. We asked for views on the polling districts, the polling places and polling stations we use from the electors of Ribble Valley, and other interested parties such as those who are experts in disabled access, local community groups, town and parish councils and local political parties as part of the review.
The following are also available to be inspected in hard copy at the Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 2RA -
list and maps of polling places.
Ribble Valley Borough Council's Policy and Finance Committee and Full Council will consider the final proposals at their meetings in November 2020. We will publish the results of the review on this web page.
