Telecommunication Masts

Telecommunication masts

All telecommunications development is subject to planning control. However, relatively minor development does not require the expressed permission of the Local Planning Authority as it is granted planning permission under the Town and Country Planning (Permitted Development) Order 1995.

We ask you to submit prior notification for telecomms to inform us of the development.

To comply with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's Code of Best Practice on Mobile Phone Network Development, Ribble Valley Borough Council have produced a Telecommunications Mast Register.

The Register lists planning application decisions for telecommunications development within the Ribble Valley. It can be viewed at the Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Householders

With respect to mobile phone masts and health matters, it is the government's view that the planning system is not the place for determining health safeguards. It remains central Government's responsibility to decide what measures are necessary to protect public health.

Operators

We encourage operators to discuss their proposals with us before submitting applications.

Before consulting us please check:

  • our telecommunications mast register
  • whether your site is subject to any planning constraints, such as within a conservation area or the area of outstanding natural beauty. This can be done by referring to our Districtwide Local Plan proposals map.
