LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED FOR RIBBLE VALLEY VOTERS
Voters across Lancashire go to the polls on Thursday 1st May to elect their representatives on the county council.
The candidates running for election have been announced and details can be found on the Ribble Valley Borough Council and Lancashire County Council websites. Details of the candidates for the four divisions in Ribble Valley have also been posted at the borough council offices in Clitheroe.
In order to vote you must be aged 18 years or over and be registered to vote. The deadline to register to vote in the LCC elections is Friday 11th April.
It only takes five minutes to register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
If you choose to vote in person, don’t forget you now have to show valid photo-ID. If you do not have one of the accepted forms of ID, you can apply for free photo-ID, called a voter authority certificate (VAC).
The deadline to apply for a voter authority certificate is 5pm on Wednesday 23rd April, but you are asked to apply as soon as possible in case the borough council needs to check any details with you.
You can opt to vote by post - the deadline for postal vote applications is Monday 14th April, or by proxy (getting someone else to vote in person for you) – the deadline for proxy applications is Wednesday 23rd April.
Information about all aspects of voting are available on the Electoral Commission’s website www.electoralcommission.org.uk
