Ribble Valley Energy Saving Week (4-8 November) is aimed at switching on local residents to the wide range of help and support available to help them reduce their energy bills & tackle climate change.

FREE drop-in sessions will be held on Thursday 7 November at Longridge Civic Hall (10am-noon) and Clitheroe Market (2pm-4pm) for people to come along and learn more about the wide range of grants and other initiatives available to help them keep their homes warm whilst reducing fuel bills.

They are part of a week-long campaign to plug people in to ways they can lower their energy consumption; a topic that’s important to everyone in the face of the cost-of-living crisis and the challenges of climate change.

The campaign is being led by Ribble Valley Borough Council with support from a wide range of partners across the energy industry. It will also include a social media campaign providing useful hints and tips for people looking to cut their bills.

Councillor David Birtwhistle, chair of the council’s climate change working group, said: “These informal drop-in sessions are an ideal opportunity for people to come along and find out more about the wide range of help and support available to help them save money by cutting their household energy bills.

“That might be through better insulation, improving your central heating system, or even looking to invest in solar and other environmentally friendly power sources.

“It’s an ideal opportunity to come along and speak to experts who really know their stuff and who can give helpful advice on a wider range of issues, no matter what your financial or household circumstances.

“These are information events, not sales pitches. It’s about making people aware of the help that’s available to them, no matter what their circumstances.”

The sessions will also be of interest to those who want to play their part, however small, in cutting their carbon footprint and helping to tackle climate change.

Experts from organisations such as Citizens’ Advice, Electricity North West, Homewise and local eco energy providers will be on hand to answer questions and signpost people to the best way forward for them.

Everyone is welcome – so just come along and find out more.
