Ribble Valley Borough Council has launched a four-week public consultation over proposals to make changes to the rules regarding self-build and custom house-building in the borough.

Details of the planned changes can be found at Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Proposed Changes.

A paper copy of the proposed changes will also be available at Clitheroe Town Hall.

The consultation will run until 5pm on 8 November.

The register is a record of individuals who have expressed interest in acquiring plots of land on which to create self-build and custom housing.

Rea Psillidou, the council’s head of strategic planning and housing, said: “The proposed changes will help strengthen the “local connection” criteria for those people eligible to be on Part 1 of the council’s self build register, and provide more clarity for those interested in building their own home. The changes will also improve the efficiency of maintaining the register.”

The public consultation was agreed by the council’s planning and development committee.
