Have Your Say on ‘Fairer’ Affordable Housing Allocation
A review of how affordable housing is allocated in Ribble Valley is underway – and you are invited to have your say.
Ribble Valley Borough Council wants to ensure its affordable housing is being allocated to those most in need.
The council’s affordable housing allocation policy determines who can register for affordable housing, their position on the affordable housing waiting list and makes nominations to registered affordable housing providers.
Currently, anyone with a Ribble Valley connection has the right to register for affordable housing in the borough, irrespective of their housing situation.
Consequently, the waiting list may not be a true reflection of affordable housing need.
The proposed changes will prioritise local households with a Ribble Valley connection in genuine affordable housing need.
The amended policy document and summary of key changes has been published at ribblevalley.gov.uk/allocationpolicyreview.
You are invited to respond until midnight on Sunday, 31 March, by emailing housing@ribblevalley.gov.uk.
