‘Shooting Stars’ to Shine at Clitheroe Gallery this Weekend
A series of sensational pop-up exhibitions featuring the work of some of the best arts and crafts makers in the North culminates this weekend (16 and 17 December).
Shooting Stars wraps up at the popular Platform Gallery in Station Road after a glittering four-week run.
The final exhibition, called Nebula, features Darwen textile artist Sharon Shaul, who uses spinning, weaving and felt making to produce necklaces, brooches and scarves; the beautiful bespoke art products and bone China mugs of Longridge’s Shed on the Fell; the distinctive work of Manchester master jeweller Stephanie Mann and standout embossed metalwork of Mike Barnes.
As well as this, over 35 of the UK’s most celebrated craftworkers and artists will continue exhibiting at the gallery’s main festive exhibition, Northern Star, until 6 January.
Ricky Newmark, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s community services committee, said: “Northern Star is one of the Platform Gallery’s most anticipated annual events, bringing the best and finest British craftwork to Clitheroe for the festive season.
“This year exhibition has also featured a series of pop-up exhibitions, called Shooting Stars, featuring four specially selected artists in the intimate setting of the gallery’s art and craft room.
“So, if you are looking for a unique one-off gift, forget the hustle and bustle of the shopping malls and pop into the Platform Gallery this weekend for an inspiring festive experience.”
