Mayor Invites Residents to mark Lockdown Anniversary
Ribble Valley Mayor Stella Brunskill is inviting residents to take part in a National Day of Reflection next Tuesday (23 March) marking the first anniversary of the pandemic lockdown.
A minute’s silence will be held across the UK at noon, while at 8pm people are being asked to light up their doorsteps with torches, candles and mobile phones.
Ribble Valley Mayor Stella Brunskill said: “This has been an incredibly difficult year for the borough, the country and the world, and my thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones.
“As we continue to make progress against the virus, I want to thank people for the sacrifices they continue to make and all key workers for providing vital public services under extremely challenging circumstances.
“I hope residents will join me in the minute's silence at noon and help to create a nationwide beacon of remembrance on their doorsteps by beaming phones, candles and torches into the night sky.”

The hub has been beavering away in the background throughout the pandemic helping thousands of residents with everyday needs and offering a listening ear.
Although the Government has set out a roadmap for exiting the lockdown, hub staff are still on hand to help if you are facing difficulty, worry or loneliness.
They can make referrals for help with such as shopping and prescription collections, and offer advice on a wide range of services.
