If you live in a cold and damp home in Ribble Valley, funds are available to help you fight ‘fuel poverty’.

Grants are available for the servicing, repair and replacement of boilers, radiators and heating appliances.

The Affordable Warmth Lancashire Fund helps low-income households with vulnerable residents, such as the over-65s, under-fives and pregnant women, those with cardiovascular and respiratory problems, a disability or mental health condition, beat the cold.

Interest in the fund has been high since its launch last month, so although grants are still available you are advised to apply quickly.

Up to £4,000 per household is available for as long as funds last and applicants will need to supply two quotes for the proposed work.

David Peat, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s health and housing committee, said: “Improving the health and wellbeing of local people is a key priority for the council and we have worked hard to address this problem over the years.

“Ribble Valley has a high level of off-grid and single-skin properties, so some people struggle to keep their homes warm during winter, and we are delighted to offer this much-needed help to low-income households vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home.”

The Affordable Warmth Fund is administered by Ribble Valley Borough Council on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
