Equality Duty
Gender Equality Scheme (December 2009)
The Equality Act 2007 places a duty on Ribble valley Borough Council to promote gender equality.
This means that we should, in all our day-to-day work and in the provision of all our services:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination and harassment in employment and vocational training for staff, including those that intend to undergo, are undergoing or have had gender reassignment
- promte equality of opportunity between men and women
To help us achieve this we have produced a Gender Equality Scheme that outlines our vision of gender equality and an action plan that lists how we will identify and respond to all forms of gender stereotyping, discrimination, sexism and transphobia.
